Carla Jacobs :
I have always had an interest in investigation. While still working in my previous profession, I assisted a private investigator with a case he was working on. He encouraged me to pursue a career in defense investigation. I went back to school, got a degree in Administration of Justice, along with a Police Science Certificate. While in school, I did worked as an intern investigator at the Sonoma County Public Defender’s Office, which eventually led to my being hired as a full time investigator back in 1994.
It was during the internship that I became interested in DIA. At the time, I looked at DIA as a way to further my education. DIA provided me with another source of knowledge from the viewpoint needed to more effectively do my job. Since that time, DIA has continued to provided me with a wealth of resources, both in the way of reference materials and knowledgeable individuals from which I could rely on for valuable information. I attended DITA and graduated in the first DITA graduation class. I continue to be excited about everything that DIA has to offer us as investigators.
In becoming a Board member it has been my hope that I can give back to the organization and in some way help to promote continued quality education and reference information to those working in our field.
