Bob Childs:

I believe that the right to counsel for indigent defendants is one of the things that makes our country unique and truly great.  I am very fortunate to be doing investigative work to that end, and I find my work to be interesting, important and fulfilling.

I have worked as an Investigative Assistant for the Public Defender’s Office in Santa Barbara since October of 1999.  I graduated in the inaugural class of the Defense Investigators Training Academy (DITA) in 2001, and I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics from California in 1993.  I also have Associate degrees in Computer Information Systems and Liberal Studies.

I was appointed to fill a vacancy on the DIA Board of Directors in October 2005, and I look forward to becoming more involved in the Association’s efforts.
